In this Mexican fantasy-adventure animation series, we are introduced to a feisty princess with a warrior’s heart who sets out on a mission to carry out an ancient prophecy and deliver humanity from the ire of the vengeful deities.

Jorge R. Gutiérrez created, wrote, and directed the series. It features the voices of Zoe Saldaña (as the protagonist, Maya), Diego Luna, Allen Maldonado, Stephanie Beatriz, Gabriel Iglesias, Alfred Molina, and Kate del Castillo.

Maya and the Three is a delightfully artistic nod to the early civilizations of the Americas, so be prepared for a ride through the worlds of the Mayas, Incas, Aztecs, and more!

This series follows the life of singer Luis Miguel, who, for many decades, has captured the hearts of fans in Latin America and beyond.

Luis Miguel, aka Micky, is a talented young singer who enjoys life, love, and security he receives from his mom. At the age of 11, however, his dad attempts to make him a superstar.

The titular character is played by Diego Boneta. The real-life Luis Miguel, one of if not Mexico’s most famous singer (and idolized all throughout Latin America), claims that while it is based on his own life, the series has taken some creative license and is actually fiction.

Luis Miguel has everything in it – great music, drama, pain, and joy. If you’re looking for a good Mexican series on Netflix, this is it.

7. Somos

Somos is a Netflix series that follows the lives of the people in the town of Allende, Coahuila, near the US-Mexico border, that are overtaken by the operations of a powerful cartel, which leads to tragedy.

Somos is based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning piece of American journalist Ginger Thompson called “How the US Triggered a Massacre in Mexico.” The series portrays the massacre that the Los Zetas Cartel carried out in Allende in 2011. If you want an authentic rendition of this horrific tragedy, you should watch Somos.

This series has an excellent cast, with the story focusing on the townspeople, which makes the scenes more personal and the horrors of the tragedy even more terrifying.

8. Crime Diaries: Night Out

A Netflix Crime web TV series, Crime Diaries: Night Out is a Colombian-Mexican crime mystery inspired by true events and stars Ernesto Campos, Carlos Carvajal, and Camila Jurado. It’s good story with great acting, so goosebumps are guaranteed!

The series revolves around real-life occurrences, such as the discovery of the death of a student called Luis Andres Colmenares after a Halloween party.

The story takes place in the year 2010, in Bogota, Colombia, and tells how two women who knew Colmenares well and an ex-lover of one of the two seem suspiciously involved. It also recounts the judicial process that ensues after the investigation.
